Darren Parker and Aura Strohschein were the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the class of 1997 of Tippecanoe Valley High School.
Parker, the son of Jon and Lou Anne Parker of Akron, plans to attend Ball State University and major in education. He has been awarded the BSU Legacy Alumni Award and the BSU Presidential Scholarship.
Parker was a member of the National Honor Society, Kosciusko Endowment Youth Services, Spanish Club, student government, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Varsity Club. He served as a Challenge Leader and was on the football, basketball and golf teams. He is active with the Burket United Methodist youth.
Strohschein, who has been awarded the BSU Presidential Scholarship, plans to major in education. She is the daughter of George and Lorna Strohschein, Akron.
Strohschein was a member of National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, newspaper, drama, French Club, youth group, Bible study, Jazz Band, choir and Varsity Club. She served as a Challenge Leader, was on the cross country and track teams, and was a manager of the basketball team.
