Warsaw Park Board heard updates on summer park activities during Tuesday’s meeting.
Staci Young, Warsaw Parks recreation director, informed the board on the activities.
Young said the classic rock concert with Grand Funk Railroad was one of the largest ever with roughly 6,000 to 7,0000 people in attendance Friday.
Community Canoeing saw 50 people using the canoes on the first day.
Several other community canoeing and canoeing clinics are scheduled this summer. People are advised to check the recreation guide or call the park offices for times and dates.
Library Stories in the Park are being well attended, Young said.
Stories are being offered in the park by the Warsaw Community Public Library every Monday at 11 a.m. at Municipal Park next to the park office.
Little Picasso’s Mini Art Camp has started and is being well attended, Young said. These are art camps that take place every Tuesday at Pete Thorn Center and registration is required.
In other business, the board heard a report on the new hoists that were installed at Glover Pavilion.
These replaced old worn out hoists.
Also, a report on the completion of parking lot sealing at Pete Thorn Center and Central Park was given.
In new business, the board was informed that a Tree City Roundtable will take place at Center Lake Pavilion July 12 at 2 p.m.
Other city and towns are expected to join in this round table along with Pam Louks, the forester in charge of all tree city applications in Indiana, Andrea Nichols from Arbor Metrics, and city representatives.
The 2013 park budget was presented and approved by the park board. Now the budget will be presented to the city council.
