Park Board Elects 2008 Officers

Warsaw Park Board elected officers during Tuesday's park board meeting for 2008.

Bill Baldwin was re-elected to serve as president, and John Sadler was re-elected to serve as vice president.

Board members include Steve Haines, Toby Sumpter and school board representative Tammy Dalton.The board accepted the gift from the Young Tiger Football of the new restroom and concession stand building in Warsaw. If, for some unforeseen reason Young Tiger Football would be terminated, the building will be given to the Warsaw Parks Department.

The board rejected a request from the Northern Indiana Wiffleball League to turn the Liz Frazier field softball diamonds in Richardson-Dubois Park into wiffleball fields. The board wants the field to remain a softball field.

Park Superintendent Jon Garber read an e-mail to the board from the league.

The organization currently plays all of their games in the back of the City-County Athletic Complex.

The board also:

n Approved a lease for the Pete Thorn Youth Center for 2008. The lease will allow the Council on Aging and Boys and Girls Club of Kosciusko County to lease the offices, meeting rooms and gymnasium for its activities.

n Approved an agreement between The Planetarium, Warsaw, and the Warsaw Parks Department for maintenance of the Satellite Gardens in Central Park.
