Parents of young children need to be aware of a movement underfoot by Barbara Boxer (D-CA) to turn their parental rights over to the United Nations.
An e-mail from www.parentalrights.org says: "The U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, which opponents say could destroy American sovereignty by imposing international rulings on American law, could reach the Senate within 60 days (April 9). Sen. Boxer wants a 60-day timeframe for the State Department to complete its review so the Senate can move toward ratification of the UNCRC. .... Opponents vehemently disagree. Under the Supremacy Clause (Article VII) of the Constitution, ratified treaties preempt state law. Since virtually all laws in the U.S. protecting children are state laws, this treaty would negate nearly 100 percent of all existing American family law. Moreover, it would grant the government authority to overrule parental decisions by applying even to good parents a standard now used against only those convicted of abuse or neglect."
If you understand what this could mean to the sovereignty of the USA, and to families in particular, please write/call/e-mail your congressmen, and ask your friends and relatives in other states to do so also. We have e-mailed our senators.
