Panel Hears Gatke Update

Posted
Warsaw Redevelopment Commission Monday heard an update on a local investor's plans to rehabilitate the Gatke Property.

Aaron Scantlen, president of Sycamore Tree Investments, Winona Lake, has plans to turn the property at 2321 E. Winona Ave. into a banquet hall, an office building to rent out to businesses and a coffee house and art gallery. The commission approved an option to lease agreement with Scantlen six months ago. That agreement expires this month, according to Jeremy Skinner, city planner. Scantlen signed the agreement in April.

Scantlen Monday requested another six-month extension for the agreement to finish architectural drawings and have an official survey conducted on the property.

He said he has started getting architectural drawings together for the banquet hall, but needs to get all of the drawing completed before he seeks a cost estimate for the project.

The commission approved Skinner discussing with city attorney Mike Valentine granting Scantlen another six-month extension on the agreement.
