ARGOS – Pamela Ann Hackett, 64, of 1950 Ridgedale Road, South Bend, and formerly of Plymouth, passed away at 10:07 a.m. July 30, 2011, in Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend.

She was born Sept. 5, 1946, in Mishawaka, to John Jr. and Doris Shoemaker Mortimore. She married Bill Smith. She later married Paul Roger Hackett in 1979. He died Feb. 12, 2011.

She was a dispatch operator at  3T Trucking Co., Etna Green. She enjoyed crafting projects, cooking and baking. She was an active member of Walnut Church of the Brethren, where she sang in the choir. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1964. She and Paul moved to California, where they lived for 25 years, before returning to the Plymouth area. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Their prayer for her is that she may “fly with the angels.”

Surviving are a daughter, Kelly Smith Miller, Goshen; a sister, Angelia Mortimore Huffman, Granger, Ind.; two brothers, John (and spouse Cherie) Mortimore III, Mishawaka, and Scott (and spouse Aislinn) Mortimore, Houston, Texas; her goddaughter, Amanda Bishop Winrotte, Plymouth; her stepmother, Judith Mortimore, Mishawaka; her brother-in-law, Ron S. (and spouse Elaine) Hackett, Fort Wayne; and her sister-in-law, Phyllis J. Conley, Whittier, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Walnut Church of the Brethren, 19056 Gumwood Road, Argos, with the Rev. Robert Rice officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

Calling is one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Vangilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, is in charge of arrangements.
