Cub Scout Pack 3782, Mentone, had a very good year and its Blue and Gold banquet was an ice cream social that everyone enjoyed, according to Cub Master Ben Taylor. The Scouts earned many awards this year completing their Tiger cub, Wolf, Bear and Webelos 1 rank. Webelos 2 are being prepared to advance to Boy Scouts and nearing completion of the Arrow of Light Award. All have earned academic and sports belt loops throughout the year. The Pack had a lot of participation in its events, such as hikes at Potawatomi Park, Komet hockey games, star gazing, swimming, fishing derby and camping outings. Its Pinewood Derby was very successful, Taylor stated, with every participant winning a trophy in their class. JJ Flinn took first place, Blake Taylor second and Alex Bailey third with the three fastest cars. The Pack participated in the Cub mobile race in September and plans to enter more cars next year. Several Scouts are going to summer day camp at Camp Rising Arrow and also summer residence camp at Camp Chief Little Turtle. Taylor said, ‘I want to thank everyone for their support this year. Our friends and neighbors that purchased popcorn from the Scouts last fall and to USW Local 809, and the Spectacle Shop for their support. I want to thank all the leaders and parents that helped us through the year to teach our Scots good morals by their promise to do their best, to do their duty to God and their country, to help other people and obey the law of the Pack.’
