Inspections of two Warsaw properties and demolition of a third were settled during a hearing at the Board of Works meeting Friday.
Property owner David Mitterling agreed with the Warsaw Department of Building and Code Enforcement to demolish a dilapidated house on Detroit Street. Building Inspector Pam Kennedy condemned the building in June because of, in part, a collapsed roof and second story.
Since then, Kennedy said, blocks are coming out of the foundation and there is a crack from the foundation to the roof. "We deem this building nonrepairable," she said.
Mitterling agreed to the demolition and told the board the house would be down within 30 days.
Kennedy, along with representatives of the county health department and Warsaw's fire department, will reinspect a four-unit residence on West Jefferson Street belonging to Ted Rondeau.
Kennedy said Rondeau was notified to finish repairs to the building by May, and that the building's condition posed safety problems.
Rondeau asked for an extension of the deadline until September 1997. The board tabled its decision until it receives the results of the next inspection.
A single-family residence on South Grant Street that formerly belonged to Richard Herberling was sold and the new owner asked for more time to complete repairs. Kennedy was to inspect the home today, and the board will decide at its next meeting how much time it will allow.
The board of works meets in the council chambers at 8:30 a.m. the first and third Fridays of each month. The second meeting of each month will include hearings on building violations and problems.
