Editor, Times-Union: What do you do on a Saturday in July 95 degree weather? Wouldn’t it be great to jump in to a nice clean pool? I would like the Warsaw Parks Department to put in an outdoor community pool. I think an outdoor community pool could be a great addition to the city of Warsaw.
First, lakes can sometimes be unsanitary. Every now and then when I go to the lake, I will see dead fish on the shore and floating in the water. Also, I will see duck and fish waste floating through the water. Sometimes they have to completely shut down the beach from way too much duck waste. Do you really want to swim with that stuff?
Second, running pools take work. Pools provide easy jobs. In the summer, college students and high schoolers are usually looking for jobs. Life guarding is good for them. They could also run the money booth. Pools need a manager, and that could be a good career job for anybody.
Finally, pools are a great place to hang out with family and friends. That could get the city a lot of money on the weekends. I like to have water fights with my friends. When people have “who can swim the farthest” contest with family members, they are having fun and getting exercise at the same time. And for people who want to tan, they could lie down in the sun on beach chairs and relax.
I hope you see the benefits that a pool could bring to Warsaw. I am sure people could have fun with an outdoor community pool. I hope the Parks Department will consider putting one in.
