Othy Helps Set The Pace For United Way

Othy Inc. employees use teamwork on their jobs - and they use it when helping their community through the United Way.

"Building a caring community requires teamwork. At Othy, teamwork is a core ingredient to our operating philosophy," said John Byrd, Othy president. "It is very rewarding to see that our teamwork as a pacesetter company is helping to build a community in which we want to live and work."

Othy and its employees are strong supporters of the United Way. Whether through publicizing how the United Way helps the community through posters, or by posting the information on the Internet, Othy employees work to get the word out about the United Way.

The company was named a United Way Pacesetter because they started their fund-raising efforts well in advance of the annual fall community drives.

In addition, the employees devote their time and efforts to the United Way directly. Linda Scalet coordinates Othy's human resources staff and has been a United Way Keyleader for several years. Byrd is a member of the local United Way board of directors. Andy Hoaglin is also an enthusiastic first-time volunteer.

To encourage enthusiasm and awareness of the United Way, Othy employees have visited Home Health Care, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Beaman Home, North Webster Daycare and Cardinal Center, and have delivered Meals on Wheels as Senior Services volunteers.

To add excitement to the funding campaign this year, Othy is offering an incentive to donate to the agency. Two lucky contributors will win two round-trip airline tickets each to anywhere in the continental United States through a company-sponsored drawing
