County commissioners heard repairs to Bridge 12 over the Tippecanoe River on Armstrong Road will begin later this summer.
The rehabilitation work will cause detours around Oswego for about three months, according to Dennis Pletcher, county highway superintendent.
Jane Greene, executive director of the Cardinal Center, and engineer Richard Click approached the commissioners with a report on the center's heating and cooling needs.
The report included mechanical systems, proposed energy savings, design and environmental conditions. Specifications for bids also were included for the $525,000 project.
Greene intends to apply for a Rural Development grant to fund replacement of the 30-year-old current system.
Commissioner Ron Truex talked about the proposed sanitary sewer installation project from Leesburg to Warsaw. Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins was in attendance at the meeting.
Truex said rumors are that people who agree to hook up to the system early will have tap fees waived. This isn't true.
He asked that attorney Vern Landis draft a fee schedule showing how the county will recoup its $300,000 investment to enlarge the line.
Wiggins said the Warsaw line will end about 2,500 feet north of the YMCA's Racquet Club facility.
Attorney Mike Miner asked if the county would be making money on the tap fees.
Truex said there was no way to know if there even be enough customers to repay the initial expenditure. It depends on the number of commercial businesses and housing units that tap into the main line.
"We cannot outstrip Warsaw's capacity, either," Truex said. "But there are no tap fee waivers."
