OrthoWorx and Kosciusko Community YMCA are combining to launch a series of discussions on diversity.

The Diversity Discussion Series will hold its first event, titled “Keeping the Faith: An Examination of Religions and Their Followers,” Dec. 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the YMCA.

The event will feature a panel discussion with representatives from the following faiths: Buddhism, Christianity, Hindu, Islam and Judaism.

The public is invited to attend.

OrthoWorx has a diversity committee made up of volunteers and community members with a focus of promoting diversity-related programming.

Given that local orthopedic companies have a global presence and recruits people from around the world, “It is of the utmost importance that we create a welcoming and accepting environment in our community in order to attract and retain top talent,” said Gennie Brissette-Tipton, manager of communications and projects for OrthoWorx.

“The goal of OrthoWorx is to ensure that Warsaw remains The Orthopedic Capital of the World,” Brissette-Tipton said.

The series will be a periodic event hosted by the YMCA and will have a different topic each time.

A news release for the event outlined the collaborative mission: “Given the current state of the nation and world-at-large, which reflects polarized views about differing lifestyles, belief structures and ideas, the OrthoWorx Diversity Committee and Kosciusko Community YMCA strive to create a safe environment for the exchange of diversity-related topics.

“This series will educate members of the community on related topics, and promote inclusion and understanding of all people, with hopes to make our community a better place to live, work and play,”?the news release said.
