This week, our community recognized many individuals for their hearts of gold. During this ceremony, you heard the word philanthropy used many times. This word is derived from the Greek word, philanthropos meaning, "loving humankind". Teddy Roosevelt once said, "It is you and me doing what we can with what we have, where we are."
We are all very fortunate to live in a community surrounded by philanthropists. I would like to take a second to publicly thank a few of them for their involvement in a project that was very successful.
As many of you know, OP's van was melted down and "given back" to our community. Through the loving efforts of Steve Shaffer and Paul Barker-Dalton Foundries, Mike Lewis-Lewis Salvage, David Schmidt-Columbia City Engineering, and Sam Shaw-Petro Brothers, the OP Desktop Memorials were made available to hundreds of students and citizens of our great city. Steve, Paul, Mike, Dave, and Sam, thank you for your "Hearts Of Gold"!
I still have some memorials available if you would like to purchase one. Feel free to contact me.
