Shoeboxes and hygiene, school supplies, toys and clothing are needed for Operation Christmas Child.
This year they will go to more than 90 countries and be hand delivered to children who are victims of extreme poverty, war and natural disaster.
The collection is put on by Samaritan’s Purse, a non-denominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.
Suggestions for items to place in the box: hygienic items such as toothbrush, washcloth and bar soap; school supplies such as pencils, pencil sharpeners, notebook paper, pens, markers and crayons; small toys, musical instruments, hair stuff for girls, and stuffed animals; clothing such as socks and shirts.
Shoeboxes and the other items will be collected during National Collection Week (Nov. 14-21) at Warsaw Church of God, 1059 Rozella Road, on Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon and 5 to 7 p.m.; Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon and 5 to 7 p.m.; Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon and 5-7 p.m.; Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon and 5-7 p.m.; Nov. 19 from 10 a.m.– 2 p.m.; Nov. 20 from 1-4 p.m.; and Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to noon.
