One Paperclip At A Time

Posted

Students in Michelle Ball’s fourth-grade class at Pierceton Elementary School are collecting paperclips. These PES students have joined with Huntington North High School, collecting paperclips to honor and represent Holocaust victims of World War II.Their goal is 6,000 paperclips. Paperclips were a Norwegian invention whose original function was to bind together. During WW II, Norwegian citizens wore paperclips on their clothing as a symbol. This was a protest against the Nazi occupation and wearing a paperclip could have gotten you arrested. So far these fourth-graders have collected 1,960 paperclips. Anyone who would like to contribute to their efforts can send paperclips to Pierceton Elementary School, Attention: Michelle Ball, 307 W. School St., Pierceton, IN 46562.
