ETNA GREEN – An Etna Green man was arrested Sunday following a Saturday shooting incident.

Shawn Douglas McCrum, 53, was arrested after members of a SWAT team breached a door at a house at 228 E. State St. around 10 a.m. Saturday, according to a press release from Sgt. Chris Francis, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office public information officer.

McCrum is accused of shooting Michael Reynolds, 45, of North Webster. McCrum is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a prosecutorial hold without bond as the investigation continues. Information on what charges he may face was not included in the press release.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday, the county 911 center received a call regarding a shooting victim in Milford. Emergency personnel responded to the scene where they located Reynolds with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Police said Reynolds was initially uncooperative, but eventually told them he was involved in an altercation with McCrum in Etna Green at the State Street address. Reynolds told police he drove to Milford from Etna Green after being shot by McCrum.

Reynolds was taken by Lutheran EMS to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment. Police described his injuries as non-life-threatening.

Police then went to the house in Etna Green and were able to hear someone moving around inside but were unable to get a response. Because of the involvement of a firearm in the case, the KCSO SWAT team was called to the scene.

After McCrum refused to comply with orders to exit the house, officers breached a door and ordered McCrum out. He surrendered without incident and was taken to jail.

Agencies assisting in the investigation included the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Milford Police Department, North Webster Police Department, Syracuse Police Department and Lutheran EMS.

Kosciusko County Sheriff Kyle Dukes thanked all agencies involved for the team effort put forth in the case.
