FAIRFIELD AT WAWASEE
Tip-off: 6:30 p.m. tonight in Syracuse
Coaches: Scott Miller (Fairfield), Phil Mishler (Wawasee)
Records: Fairfield 0-0; Wawasee 0-0
Last Year: Fairfield 74, Wawasee 56
Matchup: Fairfield graduated four seniors from last year's squad. Look to see junior center Josh Walter, senior fowards Matt Shultz and Jason Graber and junior guards Troy Beachy and Ben Bernaert starting for the Falcons. Wawasee is itching to get the chance to try out its new system against Fairfield. The Warriors and first-year coach Phil Mishler will look to start the season on the right foot with a win.
Miller: "With a new coach and quite a few players graduating, we don't have a whole lot to go on. We know a little bit about the players returning from last year, but other than that we don't have much look at. Since it's the first game of the season, we can't prepare like we do for a game in the middle of the season. We graduated four players so we have to fill those holes. The kids are doing a nice job stepping up and learning the offense. We've done a lot of work defensively, but we still have some work to do."
Mishler: "In the last six years, Scott Miller has really got the program going. They have a strong man-to-man defense, so we are preparing for that. Offensively we are working on being able to score off the screen. We are also working on fundamentals."
