AKRON – Oma Manns, 87, of 808 E. Main St., Akron, passed away at 12:40 p.m. April 14, 2015, at Hickory Creek, Rochester, where she had resided for 2 -1/2 months. She was born May 21, 1927, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Charles and Lula Dotson Hackworth, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 14, 1946, in Prestonsburg, she married Bradie Manns, who died in 2004. They shared 58 years together, living 52 years of her life in Akron. Growing up, she shared her childhood with three sisters and seven brothers. She was a housewife and worked at Chamberlain Products for 16 years. Raising four children, she made sure that they had everything they needed. She enjoyed taking walks and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and special friends, Phyllis, Bonnie and Rosie. Surviving are a son, DeWayne (and spouse Carolyn) Manns, Yantis, Texas; two daughters, Delores Dague, Akron, and Diann (and spouse Wayne) Grube, Rochester; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by one son, Dewight Manns, who died in 2009; three sisters and seven brothers. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Thad Stewart, Omega Church and Old Cross Roads Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Akron IOOF Cemetery.
