Two homes were destroyed and a third damaged in a Saturday morning fire on Lake Wawasee. A cause for the fire has not yet been determined but Syracuse Fire Chief Larry Hunter said it is not believed to be of suspicious origin. The Rosella Street homes that were destroyed were owned by Douglas Sylvester and Dan and Helen Goller. The damaged home is owned by Scott and Lisa Taylor. No injuries were reported. North Webster and Milford fire departments assisted at the scene with equipment and manpower and Benton Fire Department provided a tanker. Hunter said firefighters also used one of the 15 dry hydrants recently put in throughout the area to help douse the blaze. It was the first chance to use one of the dry hydrants, Hunter said, and 'it worked very well.' Water was also taken from the lake.
