There were a few minor snags in the municipal election: The ballot stubs weren't returned with the Silver Lake results, and Pierceton officials were called to sign necessary forms before all was said and done.
The ballot stub issue was taken care of with a short meeting between Election Board officials Tom Lemon, Mike Miner and Sharon Christner with GOP county chairman Mike Gavin and Democrat county chairman Steve Haines. Gavin and Haines agreed to go ahead with the count as long as the numbers matched.
In Pierceton, Republican judge Shirley Kreger was called from home, where she had settled in for the evening, to the Justice Building to sign the last document. Her signature was topped by Jordan Truman, who served as Democrat judge.
In Tippecanoe Township, 117 voters from Tippecanoe 1 were turned away because they lived outside the town of North Webster.
The accumulated totals were presented at 7:40 p.m., just a little over an hour and 17 minutes past delivery of the first ballot box, which arrived from Warsaw's Ward 4, Second Precinct.
Thirty diehard Democrats cast straight party votes in Warsaw, although there were no Democrats on the ballot.
In Warsaw, North Webster, Mentone, Silver Lake and Pierceton, 2,286 votes were counted out of a possible 10,215 registered voters, for a voter turnout of 22.38 percent.
