Three area officers recently graduated the Police Executive Leadership Academy, according to a news release from the Milford Police Department.
The graduates were Lt. John Karris, of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources; Sgt. Joseph Keene, Syracuse Police Department; and Deputy Chief Travis Marsh, Milford Police Department.
PELA graduates have received advanced training in leadership management, human resources, communication skills development, organizational development and strategic management.
The courses were presented in three one-week modules in 2016. Thirty-two officers from departments all over the state participated in the 2016 PELA program.
Graduates have achieved mastery of these leadership skills to better serve the community and lead fellow officers with the highest level of personal effectiveness, the release states.
The academy is sponsored by the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation.
