This letter is about the letter to you about “Police Pursuits Should Stop.”
First of all, when you are driving on the road and you hear sirens and see flashing lights, you are to pull off to the side and stop. They will either pass you or stop behind you.
These two people did not do that. They sped up. My understanding is that they went through a red light and hit another car. Knowing the WPD, the officer called in and other officers were on their way to cut off the car.
One has to look at the whole problem. The couple was supposedly shoplifting and the officer wanted them to stop. They didn’t. If they were stealing, that’s wrong. They didn’t stop when pursued. That’s wrong.
So if I am correct, they were in the wrong.
Our WPD officers and Kosciusko County sheriff’s officers do a wonderful job in trying to protect us people.
The couple was wrong. If they would have stopped, they would be alive today. I feel very sorry for the parents, but you can’t put blame on someone else doing their best to handle the problem.
Warsaw and Kosciusko County has the best officers around.
