NWES Students Walk to Raise Money

Posted
NORTH WEBSTER – North Webster Elementary School is doing their fundraiser a little differently this year.

On Oct. 14, all students will participate in the first annual Warrior Walk-A-Thon. Each grade level will be involved in walking for at least half an hour at the school.

The Warrior Walk-A-Thon is the only student fundraiser for the whole school year. The goal is to raise $18,000 for outdoor improvements, possibly playground equipment.

According to information provided by event co-chair Kristin Bonner, “This is a safe and healthy way for students to raise money. We are excited to provide a way to replace the traditional brochure fundraiser that we have done in years past. This is a great way to get 100 percent profit for the school.”

Students are asked to get at least five sponsors each. It is hoped by organizers that every student will raise at least $30 in pledges each.

Prizes will be awarded to students for raising money. Every participant will receive a reusable water bottle.

All students raising $30 will be put in a drawing for a chance to throw a pie at one of 13 North Webster Elementary School staff members.

Students having $50 in sponsorship will receive a water bottle and a Wawasee Warrior bag.

Students collecting $100 in sponsorship receive the water bottle, bag and a t-shirt.

As a twist, a $25 Walmart gift card will be given to the participant that gets the donation from the farthest away. It will be determined by postmark stamp and return address.

A grand prize of $100 in cash will be given to the student with the highest amount of donations received.
Pledge money is due back by Oct. 7.

The PTO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization so all donations are tax deductible. Sponsorships from local businesses also are being accepted.
