The North Webster Community Center’s 4th Annual Charity Raffle and Auction is an example of one of those habit-forming events that generates a considerable buzz each fall around eastern Kosciusko County.
It fills the NWCC’s gym to capacity on Oct. 6 for a socially redeeming evening that – for a $20 ticket – includes a dinner and cash bar catered by The Sleepy Owl, rows of silent auction tables, a rapid-fire live auction gaveled by Hahn Auctioneers and unprecedented raffle prizes.
The grand prize raffle winner this year chooses between a new Suzuki automobile with a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty from The Car Company in Warsaw or a classy 22-foot Bennington Pontoon Boat with a 50-hp Yamaha outboard from Main Channel Marina.
They will also raffle off a Forest River folding camping trailer and a $1,000 cash prize.
Among the other live auction items will be a Stealth-brand cargo trailer and a large gas grill donated by Ace Hardware of North Webster.
All of this, again, is a fund-raiser for the NWCC and the emerging role it plays in the North Webster-area community for youth and adults alike as the real and virtual heart of the North Webster community. It’s a role that the center’s board takes quite seriously as stewards of a non-profit facility that depends greatly on private donations.
