NORTH WEBSTER - The North Webster Community Center announced Tammy Kratzer has accepted the position of art director.
Kratzer moved to the area 23 years ago, having grown up in Bremen. Coming to this area as a child, she said she knew it would be a great place to raise children. She has always had an interest in art and creating things. With a desire to stay home and raise her children, she started creating one-of-a-kind dolls for special orders out of old quilts.
Interest in the dolls grew and she began selling them at craft bazaars and in stores.
In 1997, Kratzer opened Poppycocks in Syracuse. She also was one of the founders of Creative Fish Studios in Syracuse.
Kratzer works and teaches in clay, mosaics, glass fusion and precious metal clay and upcycled art. She currently is a member of the Syracuse Artisan Studios, where artists have their own studio space. Visitors are welcome to watch the artists working, place special orders and shop the gallery, located on Main Street in Syracuse.
In addition to working with the NWCC Art Center on a "Paint your Own Pottery" class scheduled for May 1, Kratzer is currently working on a show for the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, for which she was accepted for mixed media.
Other upcoming events she is working on are the NWCC Art Fair July 31 during Dixie Days and the Fifth Annual "Celebrating the Arts" street fair in Syracuse in September.
Kratzer resides in Syracuse with her husband, John. They have six grown sons.
