I guess I'm supposed to shut up now, right? Well not quite yet. I don't take defeat easy. You are correct, Mr. Gerard. But unless you have lived under a rock for the past year, you probably know Senator Kennedy died of brain cancer. I suppose since you're the editor you can use semantics to justify such offensiveness, but it did in fact "mock" and "belittle" Senator Kennedy. So go ahead and continue to print all the extreme right-wing, hate-filled tripe you desire. Unfortunately, I possess the ability to be just as extreme and hateful from the other side. Admittedly it's not a particularly attractive quality, but one i've acquired over the course of some not-very-good years. I dare say you would never use a dead Republican in this manner. Apparently polarization will continue to be the theme of your paper.
As to why I continue to be a subscriber, I must admit I've considered cancelling. But that would be like giving up and that, in the words of George H.W. Bush, "would not be prudent."
Unlike the former Alaskan governor, I am not a quitter. I live in this community, I pay taxes in this community, I shop in this community and once upon a time before Republicans and spineless Democrats succeeded in fulfilling their desire to "starve the beast" and destroyed the economy, I worked in this community.
In fact, I am probably a more community-minded shopper than you are. I buy locally and you will never see me in a Wal-Mart until they stock something made in the USA.
If you have a big, expensive fancy house, I subsidize your property taxes through increased sales taxes. So I will give you the same advice you gave me. If you see a letter with my name after it, then don't read it.
Please feel free to continue to criticize me, call me a socialist or whatever else comes to mind. I'm way past giving a damn what you think of me. But you will not shut me up until you pry my pen "from my cold, dead fingers."
