Not Afraid of Smart Meters

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
The paranoia about smart electric meters borders on hilarious. One would picture a huge x-ray machine mounted on the side of one’s house endangering life and limb, if you believed the negative reports.

Do the skeptics ever use a microwave oven?  Or do they ever sit in front of a wide-screen TV or a computer screen receiving small doses of radiation?

What about your wireless router, which is sending signals through your body over the air waves in your house?  And the ubiquitous cell phone towers, which are sending out radio waves all day and all night?  What about the smart phones that people surf the Internet with, and hold right up to their heads when they talk.  Better stay out of restaurants, they have Wi-Fi operating throughout the restaurant.

Danger!

For our part, we are happy to be done reading an electric meter every month, and are not afraid of a small instrument, which once a month is going to beam our reading through the electric distribution system.  We have better things to worry about, such as how to reduce the size and scope of our federal government before we are all bankrupt.
