Editor, Times-Union: Recently, a squib appeared in The Paper to the effect that if gay marriage is OK, why isn’t polygamy OK?
I fail to see the connection unless perhaps the polygamists are gay, hardly likely.
According to the most recent scientific research, there appears to be an attachment to the X or Y chromosome of those who turn out to be gay. I staunchly believe it is not a choice. Why would anyone with a couple of brain cells to rub together choose to subject themselves to discrimination?
The gays I have known seem to be more creative, sensitive and perceptive than the average person. I will not live long enough to see the solid evidence substantiated and to be sure there will be those who will refuse to accept it, just as those who refuse to acknowledge global warming. They should talk to the Pacific Islanders who are moaning that their islands are slowing sinking below the seal level. Look at the snows of Kilimanjaro, the glaciers of Greenland and Iceland.
My grandson briefly went to a parochial school where his sixth-grade teacher informed the class the earth is 6,000 years old and there never was an Ice Age – God just made it look like that!
At any rate, when the research on gayness is clear and present, those who know what they know even though what they know is not so, should exercise extreme caution lest they fall off the edge of the earth.
