NAPPANEE - A NorthWood High School student is at a juvenile detention center after admitting to writing threats on a note and bathroom wall Monday, according to the Nappanee Police Department.
The student, a 17-year-old female, told NorthWood's school resource officer Brad Balasa and a guidance counselor that she found a note in one of the school's bathrooms that threatened to harm students at the school.
She also said a threat was written on one of the stalls in the bathroom.
Both incidents took place around noon Monday according to Balasa.
Several students who were in the area of the restroom prior to the note being found were interviewed.
Eventually it became clear that the detained student was the main suspect.
After being questioned police stated she did admit to writing the note as well as the message on the bathroom stall.
The student was transported to the Nappanee Police Department where paperwork was completed to charge her with intimidation, a Class D felony, and criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor.
Balasa declined to comment on what the note and message on the bathroom stall said, only that they were of a "threatening nature."
Balasa said he couldn't comment on whether the student had previous disciplinary issues with the school.
