North Webster Swears In New Councilman

NORTH WEBSTER – Newly elected North Webster Town Council member Dave Waliczek was sworn in at Tuesday’s meeting.
Waliczek, a four-year resident of the town and owner with wife Tammy of Dixie Haven Resort, was picked to replace Councilman Tim Hines. Waliczek was sworn in by town attorney Jack Birch.
Waliczek said after the meeting he sought the town council seat after he started coming to meetings and got involved with the park board, serving as president for one year. “I wanted to do more,” he said.
Also Tuesday, council voted to appoint council President Jon Sroufe as signatory for the wastewater upgrade project. The town announced Dec. 9 that to fund the work it closed on a low-interest loan of $3.5 million through the Indiana Finance Authority’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund Loan Program.
Sroufe and town Utilities Manager Mike Noe will meet Thursday morning with representatives of engineering firm Triad Associates Inc. and a few construction companies for a pre-construction meeting. The closed session follows council’s 8:15 a.m. end-of-the-year meeting in town hall, when it will approve year-end fund transfers.
