NORTH WEBSTER – Patrons of the North Webster Community Public Library were able to celebrate their fun reading over the summer Wednesday during the library’s Reader Celebration Day.
The purpose of the event is to celebrate all the fun kids have had reading over the summer. Youth Services Librarian Pam Long said the library had 317 children registered to read and they read over 5,000 hours in a six- or seven-week period.
She said during Wednesday’s events, there were hot dogs, chips, snow cones, a bounce house, a bounce obstacle course, face panting and a dunk tank.
The theme for the event was “All Together Now,” due to the fact the library has an adult and teen reading club, as well as a children’s club, and the library wanted to bring “everyone together.”
Long said the library has been putting on the Reader Celebration Day event for 13 or 14 years.
Last year, Long said the library had a pizza party and they ran out of room in their meeting room because they had such good attendance. Since the library was incorporating everyone in the celebration, they decided to hold the event outside.
