NORTH WEBSTER – North Webster Elementary will have its third annual Walk-A-Thon Sept. 19. Last year the students raised nearly $19,000. Much of those funds were used to update the school library. This year’s proceeds will go toward gymnasium improvements to enhance school and community functions. On Walk-A-Thon day, students will walk for 30 minutes around the school track where there will be stations along the way with fun activities. Toward the end of the day, teachers and staff walk or run a teacher race. Students always enjoy watching their teachers race against each other, according to a provided press release. Every student who participates in the Walk-A-Thon will be given a Warrior visor. Students who raise $30 will receive an entry in a drawing to win a bike. One bike will be awarded per grade level. Any student who raises $50 wins a free skating party in October. The student collecting the most money overall will win a $200 Meijer gift card. The Walk-A-Thon is always a fun event for all, the release states. Parent volunteers are welcome and needed. If you are a parent or friend of North Webster Elementary students and would like to assist with the Walk-A-Thon, send an email to northwebsterpto@gmail.com for more information.
