North Webster Drama Troupe Presents 'High School Musical'

NORTH WEBSTER - The former North Webster Elementary School is the stage for a high school musical.
Disney's "High School Musical," to be exact.
Tonight, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., the North Webster Community Center Drama Troupe will present the highly popular family friendly musical.
The two-act show has become a worldwide phenomenon.The drama troupe's presentation includes 45 students ranging from kindergarten-aged students to high school students encompassing four area counties. Students involved attend Wawasee, Warsaw, Fairfield, Homestead, Sacred Heart or Lakeland Christian Academy schools.
"High School Musical" tells the story of two high school students from rival groups.
Troy Bolton (Spencer Ladd) is the captain of the basketball team. Gabriella Montez (Sonia Rodriguez), on the other hand, is a shy transfer student who excels in science and math. They're both out for lead parts in the school's musical, and end up dividing the school. Despite the attempts of others to stop them, the two work it out, inspiring others and breaking out of their cliques.
Show directors are Wende Roberts and Rachel Grose.
"It is the Community Center's program," said Roberts. "The Lord laid it on my heart three years ago to get the kids off the street. Three years later, here we are."
Tickets are on sale either through a cast member or by calling the Community Center at 574-834-1600, Ext. 0. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for students.
Other cast members include Derek Grose as Ryan Evans; Hannah Presley as Sharpay Evans; Jarell May, Chad Danforth; Sarah Schaefer, Taylor McKessie; Lance Lannen, Zeke Baylor; Courtney Haskins, Kelsi Neilson; Erik Rodriguez, Coach Bolton; Jessica Landes, Ms. Darbus; Rheann Weaver as Martha Cox and Mrs. Tenney; Ian Brumbaugh, Alan/Ripper; Cynthia Valdizon, Cyndra; Leah Shock, Jamie; Julie Landes, Susan; Chelsea Shepherd, Cathy/Mongo; and Samantha McQuade as Jackie Scott.
Wildcat cheerleaders are Amanda Bradley, Hunter Gaerte, Ashley Karr, Julia Landes, Kensea Myers, Sabra Stevens and Cynthia Valdizon.
The karaoke announcer and moderator is Lydia Searer. Performance art kids are Rosa Schaefer, Abbie Hartwiger, Brittney Hartwiger and Melodie Jones.
The "bleacher kids" ensemble are Alison Troutman, Aaron Troutman, Maddie Tucco, Hannah-Marie Lamle, Sydney Cavender, Ben Leatherman, Jon Leatherman, Megan Leatherman, Madison Fisher, LeeAnn Schrack, Brittany Karr, Natalie Smith, Lori Schols, James Ward and Daisy Gregory.
