NORTH WEBSTER – Council approved a downtown parking change during Tuesday’s meeting. North Webster council members agreed to have parallel parking spaces painted on the north side of Washington Street between Ind. 13 and East Street. The south side of the street will remain diagonal parking. The change was recommended by Town Marshal Greg Church and Utilities Manager Mike Noe, who said the street is often crowded because of north and south diagonal parking. “Numerous times a year, I go out in the morning and find a tail light lying in the street. And a lot of accidents are not reported,” Church told council. He noted four parking spaces will be lost in the change but he doesn’t think it will be an issue. Also during the meeting, council agreed to put up for bid 20 acres of town-owned farmland north of North Webster, since the lease has expired and the current tenant doesn’t wish to renew. They will open bids at next month’s meeting and expect to accept one in January.
