North Webster Adjusts Joyland Sewer Rate

Posted

NORTH WEBSTER - The town council approved a sewer rate ordinance amendment for Joyland Recreational Park Tuesday, recognizing the facility as a campground for billing purposes.

Owners Jay and Judy Clutter have asked for this designation for several months. Their 41 individual cabins use about 840 gallons of water per month compared to the 4,800 gallons of water a month used by a single-family dwelling.

The Clutters have paid residential rates for each unit since 1981. They will not be reimbursed for the overage.

The ordinance was passed by a 2-to-1 vote, with council members Jon Sroufe and Jane Shepherd voting for the amendment and Travis Marsh voting against.

The board also:

• Advised Phil and Eve Payne that a tree they want removed on their property is their responsibility even though it sits on a right of way.

• Heard police officer Candy Smythe has returned to duty following surgery.

• Appointed Mike Wilson as the town representative on the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township library board.

The next town council meeting will be Oct. 12.
