North Manchester’s Art On The Bricks Is ThursdayNORTH MANCHESTER – The North Manchester Center for History invites the public to its first Art on the Bricks event this Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Visitors will enjoy live entertainment and an art exhibit featuring artists from Northeast Indiana.  Partnering with the Art Bank Studio, the center has created an outdoor venue with lighting, colorful sails and our beautiful mariposas. Funding for this event has been provided by Visit Wabash County and Beacon Credit Union, according to a provided news release.

Art vendors will have a variety of items including jewelry, pottery, sculpture and fine art. Musician Brenda Eberly Horein is a North Manchester native that has performed live for a number of years. Currently, she is a guest artist at the Oliver Mansion in South Bend.

Art on the Bricks is a new series created by the Center for History to encourage visitors to enjoy the outdoors via the 1900s brick paved alleyway. In 1903, the town board upgraded the downtown streets from dirt to brick acquired from Canton, Ohio. The unique alleyway is one of the few places that the original brick remains exposed, stated the release.

The museum plans to host a variety of events in this space including an October presentation by Dr. Jay Perry exploring the history of prohibition in Indiana. This will coincide with a traveling exhibit from the Indiana Historical Society, “Hoosiers and Their Hooch.”

Members of the North Manchester Historical Society are invited to an oasis open during this gathering for a private reception. In the event of extreme weather the event will take place inside the museum.  The Center for History is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The museum will be closed July 3.
