North Manchester Public Library Celebrates National Library Week

NORTH MANCHESTER - The North Manchester Public Library invites the public to join the National Library Week celebration April 15-21.
National Library Week offers opportunities for children and adults to "Find Your Focus @ Your Library."Friends of the Library Volunteer Recognition Day will be April 17. Volunteers fill an important role in the success of the library by helping the library provide services such as the Homebound Program and completing other necessary tasks. Refreshments will be served through the week in honor of volunteers.
Children who visit the children's department during National Library Week will be given a special "say cheese" prize and bookmark.
All ages are welcome to enter Miss Peabody's Pets and Books Photo Contest during April. Entry forms and guidelines can be picked up at the children's desk. Take a picture of you and your pet reading a favorite library book together and turn it in at the children's desk before April 30. The winning photos will be chosen by library patrons, who will vote for their favorite photos, May 1-14. The winning entries will be announced May 15 and each will receive a treat for the pet, a treat for the owner, a set of bookmarks featuring their winning photo and the Miss Peabody Award for Book Friendly Pets.
"Forgiveness" is the third topic in the Dealing with Emotions writing series led by Beate Gilliar, Ph.D. It will take place April 14 in the Blocher Community Room from 10 a.m. to noon. Register at the main desk or by calling the library at 260-982-4773.
The library's spring book discussion series will focus on lost classics. The first book discussion will explore "The Death of the Heart" by Elizabeth Bowen on April 17. Dr. Jonathan Watson will lead the group in discussion in the Blocher Community Room from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by Friends of the Library.
