Norman "Deke" L. Evans, 71, of 5446 W. Old 30, Warsaw, died at 7:35 p.m. Dec. 1, 2007, in his residence.

He was born Jan. 10, 1936, in Warsaw, to John and Alta Ewing Evans. He married Teresa Couch, who survives.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, he was a machine operator at Kimble Glass for 32 years, and he and his wife owned Ace Tax Service for 17 years. He was a member of Pleasant View Bible Church, Warsaw Moose Lodge and North Webster American Legion Post 253. He was a Warsaw High School graduate.

Also surviving are a son, David (and spouse Joanne) Evans, Warsaw; four daughters: Kimberly (and spouse Thomas) Ihrie, Phoenix City, Ala.; Jacqueline Evans, Silver Lake; Tracy (and spouse Thomas) Parker, Warsaw; and Dawnitta (and spouse Donald) Trafan; a sister, Doris (and spouse David) Fuller; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; dear friends, Daniel L. and Marlene Hoffer, Christian Price and Sheila (and spouse Peter) DeLong Champ. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and two brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Ben Brown officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
