Norma Jean Taylor, 79, of 3762 W. Old 30, Lot 49 E, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Oct. 29, 2010, in Warsaw.

She was born Sept. 16, 1931, in Rush County, to Verl and Jennie Pollitt Smith. On June 12, 1954, in Liberty, she married Henry Murphy, who died June 29, 1963.

Before moving to Warsaw 21 years ago, she resided in New Castle, where she was personnel manager at Diamond Container for several years until its closing in 1989. In Warsaw, she worked at Zimmer Inc., W.R. Thomas and Hoosier Body Shop, until retiring in 2001. She enjoyed going to garage sales and spending time with her family and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by a daughter, Deborah Bays, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Chris (and spouse Holli) Poe, New Castle, and Melissa (and spouse Scott) Wargny, Sulphur Springs; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph E. Smith, Warsaw; and two nieces, Cherrill (and spouse Todd) Warren and family, Blaine, Minn., and Jennie (and spouse Craig) Peplin and family, Buford, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard D. Smith; and a granddaughter, Megan Lee.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Pastor Gale Janofski officiating, assisted by Pastor Denny Bollenbacher. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
