Norma Hancock Matthes, 68, of 185 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, died at 9:20 p.m. May 2, 2008, in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake.

She was born April 5, 1940, in Red Wing, Minn., to Paul Torrey and Grace Angeline Hamlin Hancock. On Aug. 12, 1961, she married Quentin Leon Matthes, who survives.

She was a registered nurse for more than 30 years and a pastor's wife. She lived in Kosciusko County since Aug. 15, 2005, formerly of Pine Island, Minn., and Arizona. She was a member of Grace Brethren Church and attended Grace Village Chapel at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake. She was a 1958 Pine Island High School graduate.

Also surviving are a daughter, Deborah (and spouse Jim) Stoops, Columbus, Ohio; a son, Mark (and spouse Glenda) Matthes, Goshen; four grandchildren; her mother, Grace Angeline Hancock, Pine Island; and a sister, Marjorie (and spouse Charles) Bolles, Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Village Chapel at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, with Pastor Jim Custer officiating.
