At the risk of getting my mailbox smashed again, I have to thank Harold Kitson for his letter titled "Obama and Guns." Good job, Harold.
I have to respond to Joshua Bartman's letter of Aug. 28. I have the same 10-point list that Mr. Kitson has, regarding Obama's plans for the second amendment, and guess what, it didn't come from Fox News or the Web. I don't even have a computer. And if you believe everything you read on these Web sites, Obama's included, then you are the one with "the problem." It's called desperate. Just because it's there doesn't make it true.
Read Obama's first book. It's full of socialist ideas. Look at the people who he says he admires and is friends with, including Mayor Dailey of Chicago who railed against the Supreme Court's recent ruling - they fully supported the Second Amendment regarding gun ownership in Washington, D.C.
Let's blame everything on Bush - no rain this week, my cake falling in the oven and kids with bad tonsils, hurricanes, tornadoes and Japanese beetles. These high gas prices came along after the liberal congress took over - so let's blame them. They have been fighting against drilling in the "right" places for years, but, no, we have to save the wildlife and bugs, crazy. Let's blame Bush for the downturn in the housing industry and McCain, too - all conservatives. Come on - wake up - people have been getting loans they couldn't afford, from crooked lenders since the '90s and before. Bill Clinton's years.
There are so many reasons not to vote for Obama - I've listed them before in this paper - the second amendment, taxes, lack of experience, voting against funding for our military, lack of patriotism (he won't wear the U.S. flag) and wanting to walk away and turn tail from Iraq. In my book that makes him a coward.
His record shows that he is for abortion in any and every form, including partial birth and letting infants die that have been born alive after an attempted abortion. That's infanticide and no Christian would do that. It's beyond me how true Americans could try to persuade all of us to vote for this man.
But this is America and we all have choices. My choice is the war hero - he has the backbone Obama doesn't. Any man who could live five to six years in a Vietnam prison has courage and knows God. He's my man. So keep your wonder boy "rock star" to yourself - vote for him all you want, but don't tell me how to vote. My ballot is spoken for.
And just a note to Donald E. Guard regarding "Rantings" of Tom Metzger. I'm with you on that, too.
God will bless America and keep her strong. "He" isn't through with her yet.
