Editor, Times-Union:
I found it amusing seeing people protesting “No Kings” recently because they are too afraid to admit that it is actually a “We hate Trump” rally because if Trump were an actual king the number of protests against a King Trump would be zero, because those who did protest would go to prison.
Granted there is plenty of things that show that Trump makes zero political sense to have been president. Trump let a minor wander around New York City without adult supervision. Trump forcibly held down another man while a drunk forcibly shaved that guys head. Trump was the subject of a comedy roast where the funniest person was deaf.
If the people really wanted to protest kings, where were they during COVID? Where were they when King Holcomb decided on his own which businesses could be opened and which had to close? Where were they when King Besher of Kentucky tried to force churches to not have in person services? Where were they when King Newsom of California sent law enforcement to beaches where people were sitting with no one around? Where were they when King Biden told people that they should get a vaccine or lose their job? They sat at home acting like Oliver Twist begging for more.
So, this “No Kings” protest is laughable because it’s not about kings, they just hate Trump but were silent when it’s their team acting like kings. The Democrats just don’t have the courage to admit that they are OK with executive overreach and graft when it’s their team doing it. If they want to try, good luck, but many of us have the receipts.
Of course, the cherry on top was the Democratic Socialists trying to come in and thinking they have a solution. People in this group clearly did not pay attention in both history and economics classes — and it shows. Democracy does not survive in a socialist system. As Socialism needs an oligarchy to survive. As the famous economist Thomas Sowell once said, “What is the fair share of what someone else has worked for?” There is not a successful socialist country anywhere on the planet. China stopped being socialist in the ’80s. The Soviet Union is obvious. Cuba has less than 50 years left. On top of that, socialism/communism/fascism has killed approximately 100 million people, so why should it be given a chance here.
I’ve seen you before. I’ve debated you before. You already lost. Socialism is a failure as a political theory, and an economic theory. You remind me of a former charlatan who liked to be a windbag claiming that he was against the status quo, but seriously wanted to replace one status quo that he wasn’t a part of with a status quo that he was in charge of.
If you want to save this country, remember this country is a Republic. We have a constitution. If you read it and study it, you’ll understand how Washington has ignored it.
