Editor, Times-Union:
The No Kings rallies reminded me of what happened nearly 90 years ago. Thousands of people in one nation opposed a king who had plunged his country into an unpopular war. What he did was send out the troops to shoot down the people in the streets. But the protesters were successful and he abdicated. Afterwards the nation became a dictatorship that wanted to rule the world. By then it was called the Soviet Union. The same thing happened in another nation and it became Nazi Germany.
A woman in my church showed me a picture of protesters at the No Kings rally in Warsaw. I asked her how many people were killed. Since no one was killed in any of the No Kings rallies, it looked like Trump wasn't a king. Robert De Niro wasn't thrown behind bars like Hitler was when he protested in Germany. The only ones arrested were those that threw cinder blocks at a federal building in Los Angeles. If they had done the same thing in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 1916 they would have been shot.
Many Democrats in Washington say that if they regain control of Congress and the Senate they will go after Trump and his supporters. That's what fascists would do. There were people in the rallies that support this form of fascism. They also oppose the war in Iran. That means they support a dictatorship that kills its people. Trump is trying to liberate the Iranian citizens and prevent a possible nuclear missile attack which Obama and Biden helped fund. How many millions of Europeans are they willing to have die at the hand of the mullahs in Iran? To oppose a war of liberation to make the Middle East safer is insane.
It is also insane to mutilate children and force girls to compete against boys in sports. It's also insane to say criminals are the good guys and those that want to arrest them (ICE) are the bad guys and must be stopped. It's like saying you'd rather pet a ribid pit bull than pet a friendly golden retriever.
Many Democrats think Gavin Newsom would make a great president. He turned some of California into a what looks like a third-world nation, forced many to leave the state for many reasons, and allowed corruption to steal billions from the citizens. Would it be sane to promote this failure to president?
The insane think chaos is order. Many Democrats must be insane since they celebrate chaos and want more of it.
