PIERCETON - No injuries were reported in an early morning mobile home fire in Pierceton Sunday.

The fire, at 8280 E. U.S. 30, Lot 68, Pierceton, in Regency Point Estates, was caused by a candle left burning overnight in a bedroom. The mobile home is owned by Ted Tackett and was occupied by his two daughters, both in their 20s, according to a Pierceton Fire Department spokesman.

When the fire department arrived, the home was fully engulfed and was a total loss, with $10,000 in damages and $7,000 content loss.

"The wind really hampered efforts," said the spokesman. It took a half hour for the firemen to bring the fire under control.

Along with the fire department, the Pierceton EMS and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene. Twenty men were on the scene. Firefighters left the scene at approximately 10:30-11 a.m.
