A man who was shooting at groundhogs that inadvertently led to the injury of a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Deputy likely will not face charges.
An incident report at the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department shows that Bruce Bibler, North CR 175E, Warsaw, contacted authorities concerning damage from bullets to his pole barn.Bibler's pole barn is located directly east of Brower's Carpet, East Center Street, Warsaw, which had an earlier incident where the business was struck with buck shot fired by Kenneth Perry, North CR 175E, Warsaw. Perry agreed to take care of the damages to the building.
A report of shots fired at Brower's Carpet led to the injury of KCSD deputy Derek A. Kreider, 38, Milford.
Krieder was responding to the shots fired call when his car was struck by Eugene W. Meyer, 38, Columbia City, at the intersection of East Center Street and U.S. 30.
Kreider sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Kosciusko Community Hospital.
According to the report, Bibler was told that authorities would contact Perry and advise him of the damage to Bibler's barn.
Bibler also was advised that criminal charges were unlikely, but, if necessary, there could be a strong case for a civil matter.
Perry was contacted by authorities, and said he would contact Bibler.
