No. 2 NorthWood Routs ManchesterNORTH MANCHESTER – Opening a two-game stretch against Northern?Lakes Conference teams, the Manchester Squires were on the wrong end of a 71-27 rout Tuesday night. Manchester and Class 3A No. 2 NorthWood were tied 15-15 after one quarter of play, but the visiting Panthers flexed their muscle and outscored the Squires 56-12 over the final 24 minutes. Vinny Miranda scored a game-high 23 points for NorthWood, while teammates Luke Zurcher and Caleb Lung chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Squires, who fell to 6-15 on the season, got eight points from Koehl Fluke, while Levi Hicks and David McAtee finished with six and five points, respectively. With the win, NorthWood improved to 20-2 and became just the second school in Elkhart County history to win at least 20 games in four straight seasons. The only other school to accomplish the feat was Elkhart High in the 1950s. NorthWood is off until Tuesday when it opens postseason play against Lakeland in the Wawasee Sectional. Manchester plays at Goshen Friday, and then plays Lewis Cass Tuesday in the 2A Oak Hill Sectional. NorthWood won the JV game 59-43. Thane Creager led the JV Squires with 11 points, while Logan Parrett and Isaiah Davis chipped in with nine and eight points, respectively.
