FORT WAYNE -ÊManchester finished the season 5-5 after falling to No. 1 Bishop Luers 56-6 in a 2A sectional football game Friday night at Luers.
The Squires threw four interceptions, all of which were returned for touchdowns.
The defending state champion Knights held Manchester scoreless until the third quarter, when John Sommer ran for a 1-yard touchdown.
Sommer led the Squires with 14 rushes for 39 yards. Klay Bechtold caught three passes for 36 yards to lead the Manchester receiving corps.
Luers entered with seven turnovers to 42 for the opponents. As has been the case all season, Luers again feasted on turnovers.
"Turnovers made a difference right away," Manchester coach Al Bailey said. "It's just their total team speed. We'd throw the ball and look like we had a good shot at getting the ball in there, but their kids would get in there and pick it off. They had great closing speed. That's something you can't simulate in practice.
"You can't make mistakes against this team. Maybe down the road Jimtown could give them a run for their money."
Manchester finished the season 5-5, while Luers remains undefeated at 10-0.
