NMPL Celebrates Library Week

NORTH MANCHESTER - Join the North Manchester Public Library Saturday at 10 a.m. as the library kicks off National Library Week by taking a walk on the wild side with the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo.The program will begin in the Blocher Community Room with the announcement of the winners of the Centennial Celebration's "Celebrate Your Library" Bookmark Contest. After the presentation, wild critters, stories and activities will be combined for a lively morning of Amazing Animals sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

The North Manchester Public Library is sponsoring a Community Read as part of the library's centennial celebration. Free paperback copies of Pulitzer Prize-winning book "The Magnificent Ambersons" by Booth Tarkington are available at the main desk for anyone interested in participating.

As a part of the Community Read, Dr. Charles Boebel and Dr. Scott Strode collaborated to create the dramatic presentation "Neighbor Tarkington." The play can be seen at Manchester College Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Wine Recital Hall. The final performance will be at the North Manchester Public Library April 15 at 7 p.m. in the Blocher Community Room.

Orson Welles' film adaptation of "The Magnificent Ambersons" will be shown Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Blocher Community Room.

The whole community is invited to join the library at the grand finale of the Community Read, a lecture and community discussion of "The Magnificent Ambersons," which will take place April 17 at 7 p.m. in the library's Blocher Community Room.
