Posted
COLUMBIA CITY - The Ninth Annual Whitley County Autumn Art Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 11 downtown Columbia City outside on the courthouse.

Proceeds will benefit the Whitley County Art Scholarship.

Admission is free.

WCAAF offers all ages a variety of opportunities to appreciate, explore and experience the visual arts, music and dance. More than 40 artists, exhibitors, dancers and musicians are perfecting their art and many chocolate-themed venues are promising another great festival.

This year's theme is "Patriot - Red, White & Blue".

The festival will be kicked off by the Korean War veterans and the display of flags by the veteran monuments. There will also be a moment of silence at 9 a.m. for the anniversary of those lives that were lost Sept. 11.

During the day a History Chalk Walk Contest using the "Red White & Blue" theme, sponsored by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, will be held. The winners will receive cash awards.

There will be art demonstrators exhibiting their art and talent. The Children's Art Tent will house many favorite art projects, balloon art with Sweetcakes Comedy and caricature artist Mark Ryan of Fort Wayne.

A silent art auction will be located in front of the Clugston from 11 to 2 p.m. There will be music and dance and the returning Indiana Pacemate Cheerleader's Dance Routine will be located on the west side of the courthouse.

The Children Amateur Art Show will be housed at the Historic Clugston Hotel Lobby; Humane Society will have its Pet Road Show and pet drawing contest on the east side of the Courthouse; and the Street Art Rush will feature downtown businesses displaying painted window art, and there will be chocolate venues (watch for balloons) and more.Grants were provided for the event by the Whitley County Community Foundation, The Journal Gazette Foundation and Whitley Parkview Hospital.
