Silver Lake Fire Department Hog Roast SILVER LAKE – The Silver Lake Fire Department is hosting a hog roast Saturday from 3 until 6 p.m. at the new fire station at 702 E. Main Street in Silver Lake. Tickets are on sale for $7 or $7.50 at the door. Carry-out will also be available. Proceeds will be used to purchase equipment for the fire department.

Drainage Board Sets Maintenance Assessment The Kosciusko County Drainage Board held a public meeting on the Turkey Creek Drain Thursday at 9 a.m. to establish annual maintenance. The board approved the proposed assessment of 10 cents an acre and a $5 minimum. The findings and order of the board are available for inspection in the office of the county surveyor.
Parks Department Holds Kids Corner Event Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department will host a free weekly Kids' Corner program beginning June 5. The program runs weekly from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Pete Thorn Center, 800 N. Park Avenue. The parent-child program for ages 3-7 will be full of activities, crafts, stories, and more, all related to the weekly theme. The theme for June 5 is Jammin' and Dancin’. A representative from Deb Collier's School of Dance will join the parks department for the program. The theme for June 12 is Healthy Me, and the American Red Cross will join the program with its Scrubby Bear program. No registration is required. Jail Museum Needs Volunteers Kosciusko County Historical Society’s Old Jail Museum is in need of volunteers. The museum has many projects and activities for volunteers of any age. Tour guides are needed for Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and guides for school tours as required. Current projects include researching business histories, helping with displays, data entry, helping organize photo collection, and genealogy library assistants. Ind. 25 In Mentone To Close For Festival MENTONE – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that Ind. 25 is scheduled for closure in Mentone on Wednesday, starting at 4 p.m., due to a festival. The closure is between Ind. 19 and N. Morgan Street. The detour is Ind. 19 to W. Harrison Street to N. Morgan Street. The road will re-open by 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, June 1.
